It might have taken a bit of planning but what I think we can all agree that La Fheile Padraig at Naomh Eoin was a roaring success! Credit to all those who helped with the organisation and to Feile and Belfast City Council for their support.
We had something for everyone, with young and old all enjoying the events and activities throughout the day. First up we had some of our members taking part in the Craic 10k run through the city at 9am.
Our U10 camogs then stole the show at the St Patrick’s carnival parade in the city centre.
Then we had the excellent Cemetery tour with Tom Hartley, with our members braving the wind and rain. It was definitely worth it though.
Up next was our Golden Eagles lunch, attended by 25 of our older members. As usual the craic was 90 in the chatterbox as the tales were relived!
Following the lunch, we were entertained once again by Jimmy McDermott as he took us through a historical talk on ‘Belfast after 1916’. Some fascinating insights into our local history.
And while the older generation were enjoying the talk, our youngsters had the opportunity to tire themselves out in the sports hall with Fitness Freddie and Windy’s mini-olympics.
Moving up the stairs after that, we welcomed the Ferris school of dancing for an exhibition of their top class routines that had everyone’s feet tapping.
After the club finals we rounded things up with the fabulous McNeill Brothers in the function room
