Senior hurlers end week with 2 wins
SHL v Ballycran

Textbook block from Doolies…or is it Domhnall!

Naomh Eoin senior hurlers continued their winning ways this week with league victories over st Gall’s on Wednesday night and Ballycran on Sunday, cementing their position in the top half of the table.

Wednesday’s game at Milltown was a sometimes cagey affair but we were never in danger of losing, despite a 2nd half rally by St Gall’s, when Monday’s U21 victory at Cushendun seemed to catch up with some of the Johnnies boys.  However, experienced heads like Brian Mcfall and Simon McCrory steadied the ship, ably assisted by Fergal Morgan, Ryan McNulty and Gerard Cunningham.

The 2-13 to 0-12 final score was a fair return against a dogged St Gall’s.

Sunday’s victory over Ballycran was an altogether more satisfying display, with a much increased work rate and a greater fluency to our play.  Played in ideal conditions, goals from a Colm McFall flick on and Michael Bradley rasper saw us win by 2-26 to 2-17 in the end against a physically strong Down outfit.

Excellent performances throughout the field and it was good to see us back to near full strength following injuries and suspensions.  The majority of this team move on to the next challenge on Wednesday night at Creggan, where we meet Loughgiel in the semi-final of the U21 championship.  Let’s see a big crowd up at this to give the lads the encouragement they deserve.
