Rebuilding continues for senior camógs

Div 2 Camogie St.Johns 0-02 Loughgiel 5-16 Referee -Paul McDonnell ( Rossa)

An under strength St.Johns team lost heavily at home to the unbeaten league leaders Loughgiel despite a brave effort to contain P.J. O’Mullan’s well drilled North Antrim girls.

Naomh Eoin went a goal behind within a minute of the throw-in when Ciara Dobbin slotted home from close range. St.Johns gave away a second goal a few minutes later and simply never recovered and a series of points and a third Loughgiel goal left a halftime score of St.Johns 0-00 Loughgiel 3-07.

The second half saw a marginal improvement for the Corrigan girls as they tried bravely to get back into the game but could only manage two points in total, one a well taken free from Máire Mulholland after she was upended and the second a point from play by Eimhear Costello who played despite a knee injury.

Loughgiel added a couple more goals and a series of points to go away with a win and remain unbeaten in the league boasting eight wins from eight games. St.Johns have another home game against Dunloy next Thursday night and will hope for a much better performance. Loughgiel host Cargin next week.
