Gerry McCann and Maria Gough accept the award on behalf of Naomh Eoin.

The tireless work of Naomh Eoin volunteers was recognised once again at the Irish News Club Volunteer Awards on Friday.  In a ceremony attended by representatives of clubs and schools throughout the province of Ulster, Naomh Eoin’s efforts to add to what we offer our members and friends, resulted in us securing the Club Initiative Award for 2015.

Especially commended was the ever-expanding Fit4Life programme, The Chatterbox cafe and the Ramblers’ Club.  receiving the award on behalf of the club, club chair Gerry McCann expressed his sincere thanks to all at the club who support and take part in the new and existing activities.

Gerry commented, ‘it is important that we offer something to everyone at the club, from U6 right up to those who have finished their playing careers and those looking to remain active in retirement.  Our club can only remain vibrant with the continued support of our members – the buzz created by Fit4Life and the provision of facilities such as the Chatterbox certainly contribute to that vibrancy.

This couldn’t happen without the dedication of those working behind the scenes.  To them I say a massive well done and thanks for creating a truly brilliant atmosphere!’

More to come from the main committee and from Maria Gough, our Health and Wellbeing officer, in the months ahead.  anyone can get involved in our programmes and we encourage all our members to get try them out, bring a friend and spread the word about Naomh Eoin!
